Congratulations to the Portageville Bulldogs for winning the Class 2A state basketball championship Friday afternoon in Columbia. Portageville beat a talented Harrisburg team 60-55 to claim their first state title in fifteen years.
Way to go Bulldogs!
Now its Scott County Central's turn Saturday in the Class 1 final against Newtown-Harris.
Tip off is 12:20. Chad Fryman and photographer Brian Heisserer will continue their coverage from Columbia and have a final recap Saturday night on Heartland Sports.
It wasn't easy in the first half against Cornell, but 3rd seeded Missouri took care of business in the 2nd half winning their NCAA opener 78-59. Mizzou will play a talented Marquette ball club Sunday in round two.
The Tigers have the look of a team primed to make a nice run in the big dance.
